The use of cruciferous vegetables and specially broccoli in the support of cancer therapy becomes more and more important. The oncology knows broccoli in the human medicine for about 30 years . The former US President Ronald Reagan has survived, after his personal physicians diagnosis bowel cancer in 1985 thanks a prescribed Brokkolikur, even for 19 years.

The mustard oil sulforaphane , which is particularly contain rich in germinated broccoli sprouts, is in terms of therapeutic efficacy oncology best investigated.[2]. They were the world’s first , who have shown in laboratory tests with mice, that Sulforaphane attacks the particularly aggressive tumor stem cells and this characterized for makes chemotherapy sensitive . “We suppose, that tumor stem cells – these survive a conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy are responsible for the emergence and spread of cancer. Since the normal tumor cells are more sensitive, they die off under treatment and the tumor is often small, particularly during the early courses of therapy.

However, the resistant tumor stem cells left and this can form the tumor again. We even see that the tumor stem cells during repeated chemotherapeutic treatments are enriched and therefore, the tumor becomes resistant after multiple cycles. Based on our laboratory data, acts a Sulforaphane diet against the enrichment of tumor stem cells and therefore may occur tumor growth slow and chemotherapy make it more effective . “said Prof. Dr. Herr.
